Several states in India have announced lockdowns due to the rapid increase in the number of coronavirus cases, in the second wave of the pandemic in the country. Speaking to the media today, Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar ruled out the possibility of imposing a lockdown in the state.

He said that the situation of coronavirus, and the rate of spreading in Telangana is much lesser when compared to many states of the country. He even noted that there’s been a downward trend in the number of cases registered every day, for the past 10 days, and said that the situation would very soon become normal in the state.

The CS also said that Telangana’s medical infrastructure was ramped up during the first wave, which is now one of the main reasons why the state is witnessing a lesser number of cases. He also said that the government is yet to decide upon the High Court’s suggestion of either imposing a weekend lockdown or extending the hours of night curfew, after May 8th.
