Superstar Mahesh Babu’s latest movie, Bharath Ane Nenu opened to unanimous positive talk and registered a stunning opening. The movie collected close to Rs. 22 crores on day 1 and continued the glorious run all through the weekend. BAN got encouraging reports from the overseas as the film crossed the $2 million mark in the first 2 days itself.
Surprisingly, the movie saw a dip in collections in the weekdays. The box office reports for Tuesday and Wednesday were just above average for a movie that attained great word of mouth. The total 5 days share of the movie stands at Rs. 66.8 crores. On the other hand, Rangasthalam is still having a blistering run and shocking the trade pundits even 4 weeks post-release. The periodic drama has already crossed Rs. 110 crore mark and is aiming for Rs. 115 crore.
If the current trends are anything to go by, BAN may find it tough to erase Rangasthalam’s records. The fact that Allu Arjun’s Naa Peru Surya will be releasing on May 4th may further affect the run of BAN. It needs to be seen if the political drama can outrun the periodic drama.
