Utterly poor openings for mega multistarrer

Mani Ratnam has been waiting for quite some time now to score a good hit at the box office and rejuvenate his career. The renowned director’s latest release, Nawab hit the big screens in the Telugu states amidst very poor buzz, owing to the lack of promotions.

The movie is filled with star actors from Kollywood who are relatively not-so-close to the Telugu audience. The presence of Simbu, Aravind Swamy, and Vijay Sethupathy may ring many bells with Tamil audience but that is not the case in the Telugu states.

Theaters screening Nawab registered less than 60% occupancy and that is expected to change if the movie garners a good word of mouth.

Going by the trade reports, the movie is on course for a disastrous opening day business in the Telugu states.
