A few years back, Australian men’s cricket team dominated each and every ICC tournament. The likes of Gilchrist, Pointing, Mc Grath, Symmonds, and Bevan looked unstoppable and registered many memorable victories for the national team.
Sadly, things are completely different now as the current team is failing to register victories even against mediocre opponents. The situation is so very bad that Australia is now ranked 6th in the ICC ODI rankings, the lowest they have been in the past 34 years. On the top of that, Australia has won just 2 of their previous 14 ODIs, showing their dismal form.
The suspensions on David Warner and Steven Smith seems to be one of the key reasons behind this disastrous downfall of probably the greatest team in the history of the sport. On a recent note, Australia gave away a record 481 runs against England and lost by a margin(242) that is bigger than their total(239) and that pretty much sums up their situation.
