NPS: Average talk, poor collections

Allu Arjun’s latest action entertainer, Naa Peru Surya had a grand slam release yesterday. The movie opened to mixed reports and an average word of mouth from the viewers. The movie released amidst huge expectations and everyone expected that NPS will turn into career biggest opener for Allu Arjun.

Surprisingly, Naa Peru Surya could not even cross the opening day collections of Allu Arjun’s previous movie, Duvvada Jagannadham(Rs 18.34 crores). Reportedly, NPS made Rs 16.14 crores on its opening day in the Telugu states. It needs to be said that these poor numbers considering the amount of following and crowd-pulling capabilities Allu Arjun processes.

The main reason for this dull run is poor promotional campaigns from the makers of the movie. They should have taken proper care towards the music departments as songs play a key role in building hype around a movie. Even Allu Arjun fams were disappointed with the film’s album and that speaks a lot about the pre-release buzz around the movie.

All in all, Allu Arjun may find it tough to repeat the magic that he could generate with Sarrainodu and Duvvada Jagannadham. We can expect a further dip in NPS collections after Mahanati hits the big screens on May 9th.
