KCR will not retain even Gajwel seat: Uttam

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy claimed that caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao would not be able to retain Gajwel seat in the next Assembly elections.

The TPCC chief was addressing a meeting at Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday on the occasion of joining of several prominent TRS leaders from Gajwel constituency, the seat represented by KCR, into Congress party. Those who joined the Congress today include Jagdevpur MPP Renuka, MPTCs Mamata Bhanu and Kavitha Yadigiri, ex-Sarpanches Ellaiah and Vijaya, Councillors Bhagya Laxmi and Durga Prasad. It may be mentioned that KCR’s farm house is located in Jagdevpur. Hundreds of TRS activists from Dubbak constituency of Siddipet, led by Nageshwara Reddy, also joined the Congress party today.

Speaking on the occasion, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress wave was all set to uproot the TRS from all across Telangana State and KCR would not be able to retain his Gajwel seat in next elections. “KCR has committed so many sins against the people that his party deserves to be punished with a humiliating defeat in next elections. Of more than 4,500 farmers who committed suicide in Telangana, almost 480 farmers belonged to Gajwel constituency. None of them have been paid compensation of Rs. 6 lakh each as per GO 421. While KCR had time to relax at his farm house in Jagdevpur, he never bothered to meet even one family of farmer who committed suicide. He turned so arrogant and inhuman that he did not even expressed his condolences or concern over farmers’ suicides,” he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party, if voted to power, would waive off crop loans up to Rs. 2 lakh in a single take. It will introduce a comprehensive crop insurance policy wherein the premium would be paid by the State Government. He alleged that the TRS Government neither ensured payment of proper MSP to farmers nor it gave any compensation to farmers who lost their crops due to natural calamities like drought or unseasonal rains. He said that the Congress Government’s top priority would be to stop farmers’ suicide by making agriculture a profitable profession.

The TPCC Chief also promised that the next Congress Government would accord priority to housing. Besides constructing two lakh houses for poor every year, the government would give Rs. 5 lakh each to those who wish to construct their house on their own plots. He said poor SC and ST families would be given an additional Rs. 1 lakh for construction of houses. All pending bills of Indiramma Housing scheme would be cleared within 100 days and the previous beneficiaries would be given Rs 2 lakh to construct an additional room and bathroom.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the benefit of Telangana did not reach the common man under TRS regime. While one family of KCR enjoyed a lavish lifestyle using public money, all other sections remained neglected. He said that the Congress party would take all measures to ensure that the benefit of Telangana reaches all citizens. For the same reason, he said it has been decided to double the Aasra pension amount from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 2,000 per month for all categories of beneficiaries. He said the eligibility for Old Age Pension would be reduced to 58 years on par with State Government employees and parents of government staff would also get Old Age pension. Similarly, he said the Public Distribution System would be streamlined wherein all poor Dalit and Girijans families would be given free ration. He said all ration card holders would be given 7 kg of fine rice per individual for Re. 1 per kg. He said the old system of supply of essential commodities at subsidised rates at Fair Price shops would be restored. He said nine items including rice, wheat, flour, salt, sugar, palmoil, turmeric, etc., would be supplied again at Fair Price shops. Further, he said the commission of ration dealers would be increased.

The TPCC Chief said that the next Congress Government would overcome the problem of unemployment. He said the TRS Government has disappointed the jobless youth and students by not fulfilling up even 10% of vacancies in the last four-and-a-half years. “KCR came to power on the promise of giving one job for each household. While he accomodated five members of his own family on top positions, he completely neglected the jobless youth. The vacancies that existed in June 2014 are still lying vacant,” he alleged while adding that the Congress Government, in the first year after coming to power, would fill one lakh vacancies and also create another one lakh jobs through self-employment schemes. He said at least 10 lakh youth would be given unemployment allowance of Rs. 3,000 per month. He a Mega DSC would be conducted to recruit 20,000 teachers.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said women would get their due share in power and resources in Congress Government. In order to ensure the economic empowerment of women, the Congress Government would give a grant of Rs. 1 lakh each to nearly 6 lakh Women SHGs in the State. Further, a bank of Rs. 10 lakh would be arranged for each SHG and its interest would be paid by the government. He also promised to restore the Abhay Hastham for members of Women SHGs and said this would be in addition to other pensions they are getting. He also promised that that Dalits and Girijans would get power up to 200 units at free of cost.

Stating that the polling for next Assembly elections was likely to happen in the third week of November, Uttam Kumar Reddy asked the party cadre to actively participate in the campaign and reach each and every voter to explain him/her the failures of TRS Government and the Congress party’s plans for different sections of the society.
