The overseas market has turned into a solid money spinner for the movie makers. Many top heroes like Mahesh Babu and Pawan Kalyan have a great following in the USA and their movies have a good run at the ticket counters.
Interestingly, Ram Charan had a poor track record in the overseas. Charan had a single movie in the $1 million club. This shows that Charan’s movies have a below-par run in the overseas. However, that is not the case now, Rangasthalam is smashing every non-Bahubali record.
Sukumar’s following, brilliant narration, rustic vibe and stellar performances from the lead cast have greatly helped the movie. The periodic drama has already grossed $2.5 million and is still going strong on the weekdays. At this rate, Rangasthalam can easily go past Mahesh Babu’s Srimanthudu($2.8 million).
The onus is now on Mahesh Babu who has Bharath Ane Nenu slated for release on April 20th. The expectations are high on this movie as Mahesh will be seen as chief minister in this political drama. It would only be fair to say that Mahesh enjoys the highest following amongst Tollywood heroes. Even his disastrous movies touch the $1 million mark. This sets a perfect platform for BAN to emerge on top of Rangasthalam.
It would be interesting to watch if the chief minister can surpass Chitti Babu’s record.
