A sudden downpour of rain in Andhra Pradesh has resulted in a heartbreak for the farmers. According to the AP government, the sudden rains that lasted for 10 minutes have resulted in losses that add up to Rs 17 crores.
The agriculture minister of Andhra Pradesh, Somireddy Chandra Mohan Reddy, stated that over 1016 hectares of corn and paddy fields were affected. He added that the government has decided to pay Rs 200 per quintal for the affected farmers. The TDP leader stated that the government has already initiated the proceedings for the agricultural losses that occurred in the last month and will soon start working on this.
Somireddy stated that the government has planned to establish cold storages with a peak capacity of holding 4 lakh tonnes. He added that the construction works have already begun and the facilities will soon be accessible to the public.
