CPI demands all-party meet on Krishna water sharing
CPI secretary Chada Venkat Reddy demanded the State Government to convene an all party meeting to chalk out plan in the wake of Supreme Court dismissed Telangana’s special leave petition (SLP) seeking quashing of the Justice Brijesh Kumar Tribunal verdict that limited fresh allotment of Krishna waters to TS and Andhra Pradesh without extending it to other two riparian states of Maharashtra and Karnataka.
The state government should take the help of the Centre and should appeal in the Supreme Court again to solve the issue and ensure justice is done to the state, the CPI leader said.
Venkatreddy said that the apex court’s verdict would do great injustice to the state and reminded that the AP (unified) state government in 2013 too failed to make its point before the Brijesh tribunal. With the state government denied of its due share, the projects undertaken in the fluoride hit Nalgonda district will face severe water scarcity. The tribunal should review its order to ensure justice to state, he said. (INN)
